A mixed-use project along Coast Highway, including an exotic car showroom and housing that has drawn opposition from hundreds of residents who live nearby, was given the green light by the Newport Beach Planning Commission.
The project would redevelop an existing shipyard sales lot at 2510 W. Coast Highway with an 8,741-square-foot showroom and 750-square-foot office in front of a three-story, 35-unit apartment building. The apartments would be a mix of 10 studios and 16 one-bedroom and nine two-bedroom units. Of those, three units would be made affordable to very low-income households.
The project has been in the planning for about two years and is being developed by Mark Moshayedi, who already owns commercial property in the surrounding area.
